Bodeguita del Medio

A very popular restaurant nestling close to Havana’s famous cathedral, this characterful location is bursting with atmosphere and specialises in traditional Cuban dishes, notably its roast pork, black beans and fried plantains. Reservations in advance strongly advised.

The Christ of Havana

Statue of white marble from Carrara shows Christ blessing the city. With a height of 15 meters, it is placed on a 3 meter pedestal. Keeping in mind the elevation of the hill in which is located it reaches 79 meters above sea level. It is the largest outdoors statue of Carrara marble that a woman has ever made. It has been in his place since 1958.

Museum of the Revolution

This museum is housed in the former Presidential Palace and commemorates Cuba’s historic heritage. It includes the Granma Memorial, the boat used by Castro and his followers in 1956 to travel from Mexico to Cuba to begin the struggle against the then dictator Fulgencio Batista.

Malecon

The Malecon represents a particular and indispensable space to the life of the city, where relevant developments of our culture and history take place, this becoming in a unique symbol of our capital.

The Capitol

The Capitol, one of the most splendid buildings of the capital in which the Statue of the Republic was placed, third highest of the world in indoor space; close to its feet a diamond was planted to mark the kilometer 0 of the Carretera Central (Central Road).

Cathedral of Havana

It is the greatest example of the so called “Cuban baroque style”. Its construction started in 1748 and was stopped in 1767. Short time later, it was agreed to continue building it to transfer the Main Parish to such place. The construction finished in 1777, and it was given the rank of Cathedral in 1787. For over 100 years from 1796 to 1898 the body of Christopher Columbus lay in a mausoleum here.

San Francisco de Asis Square

This was the most important place in the life of the city and docks. In the XVIII century, the new Covent of Saint Francis of Assisi was finished, which at the time had the tallest church tower in the city. In the XX century, the construction of La Lonja de Comercio was finished to rule the development of the commercial operations that were taking place in the area. At the center of the square we can find a The Fountain of the Lions.
