Scuba Diving Bay of Pigs

One of the highlight in  Cuba ,is Scuba Diving bay Of Pigs.Something that you have to see it to believe it ,located in the southern part of Matanzas Province.
Bay of pigs or (Bahia de Cochinos ) translated into Spanish,is 53 miles (85 kilometres) from Cienfuegos , 110 miles (177 kilometres) From Havana and 65 miles (105 kilometres) from Varadero.
It takes around 1h 45min drive from Varadero.Bay of pigs offers you Scuba Diving in the open sea and in caves flooded with brackish water that are linked to the famous  Speleo-Lacustrian system of the Cienaga de Zapata.

One of the thrills of diving a wall is the marine life. The wall and the reef atop it serve as a barrier between deep, open ocean and the shallower, protected water on the shoreward side. Pelagics often emerge from the depths to feed on the smaller fishes that inhabit shallower water.

Dives are made directly from the coast and extremely beautiful species of coral can be seen immediately :Staghorn Coral (Acropora cervicornis),Brain Coral(Diploria spp.) ,Common Sea fans (Gorgonia spp) , Leaf Coral(Agaricia agaricietes and Agaricia unifasciata), Star coral, Flower Coral and many others,always accompanied by Schools of  multicoloured fish, where you can see a different variety that includes (Snappers,Groupers ,barracudas,Albacore fish).

Scuba Diving Bay of Pigs is  heavily blanketed with marine life that you can spend an entire dive observing the tiny creatures that inhabit just a few square yards (3-5 sq m) of the wall. However, don’t become so engrossed that you forget to occasionally glance over your shoulder to see what might be passing by in the blue water behind you.
