Cenotes (say-‘NO-tays) are an underground system of stunning, water-filled caves and caverns that formed when rainwater, falling over millennia, wore away the limestone and filled the caves with water. As the roofs of these caves collapsed, underwater sink holes and caverns formed.Exploring them is a unique experience not found anywhere else in the world.

Not every one wants to dive and, to be honest, Coral beach , Saturn Cave , and the bay of pigs are varadero’s most accessible reefs and offers excellent snorkelling. The only requirements for snorkelling is an ability to swim, fairly good fitness as it a strenuous activity, and the ability to laugh at yourself when you first don the gear and feel rather like a fish out of water.
